Our North Stradbroke Island Accommodation

Do you allow pets?

No we do not allow pets due to the fact that they can disrupt the natural wildlife on North Stradbroke.

Do your accommodation prices include bed linen?

No it does not, however if you would like us to supply it, we can at a cost of $15.00 pp for the duration of your stay. Please advise if you require linen at time of booking, the quantity and bed size.

Do you service the self contained bungalows daily?

We provide token coffee, tea, hospitality soaps and toilet paper at the beginning of your stay, however it's important to note that this initial supply does not get replenished throughout your stay. You may need to bring your own supplies depending on the length of your stay and you can always pop down the road to the Amity Point General Store.

Do you have accommodation fit for disabled people?

Our Lorikeet Lodge is equipped with facilities for the disabled including wheelchair access, roll-in shower and grab rails.

Can we invite our friends over for a visit if they are staying elsewhere?

In keeping with our exclusive and unique environment with only 4 cabins we ask that you respect the privacy of other guests. Only guests that are staying with us are allowed on the property at any and all times.

Where do I catch the ferry from to get across to North Stradbroke Island?

The ferries depart from Cleveland and arrive at Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island. There are two companies that offer both barge and water taxi transport to North Stradbroke Island and these are the Sea Stradbroke and Stradbroke Ferries. There is a third company that offers water taxi services only and they are Stradbroke Flyer - Gold Cats.

How often do the water taxis and barges travel to and from North Stradbroke Island?

All water taxis and barges travel to North Stradbroke Island and back to Cleveland approximately every hour starting at 5.30am and finishing at 5.30pm. Please visit Stradbroke Ferries, Sea Stradbroke and Stradbroke Flyer - Gold Cats for a timetable.

How do I transport my car to and from North Stradbroke Island?

The barges run by Stradbroke Ferries and Sea Stradbroke are specifically for vehicle transport and travel every hour to and from North Stradbroke Island. You will need to book your car on a barge in advance, which you can do online at Stradbroke Ferries or Sea Stradbroke.

How much does it cost to transport my vehicle to and from North Stradbroke?

Barge prices range from $101 to $135 depending on the company and concessions. Visit Stradbroke Ferries and Sea Stradbroke for pricing tables specific to your vehicle.

How much does it cost to catch a water taxi?

The prices for the water taxi range from $6 to $17 depending on the company and concessions you're entitled to. Stradbroke Ferries do offer special groups rates if there is a large number travelling over together.

How long does it take to get to North Stradbroke Island by water taxi and barge?

The water taxi takes approximately 30 minutes while the barge takes approximately 45 minutes depending on sea conditions.

If I want to do beach 4 Wheel driving while I'm on North Stradbroke Island do I need to purchase a permit?

You do need a 4WD permit if you wish to go 4 Wheel driving on the beaches at North Stradbroke. The permits are available at Stradbroke Island Tourism, which is located at Junner Street, Dunwich when you get off the barge. You can also purchase them at Redlands Tourism 152 Shore St, Cleveland and down the road from us at the Amity Point General Store. The permits cost $33 and are valid for 1 year.

What is the bus service like on North Stradbroke Island if I don't have a car?

There is the North Stradbroke Island Bus Service that meets the ferries at Dunwich and travels the east coast road on North Stradbroke Island to Amity Point (where we are) and right the way up to Point Lookout. The buses depart each of these locations approximately every hour. Visit North Stradbroke Island Bus Service for a full timetable. The bus fare to and from Dunwich (where the water taxi drops you) to Straddie Bungalows at Amity Point is $4.10 for adults and $2.10 if you're entitled to a concession.
