Straddie Bungalows connection to the land here at Amity Point

Your hosts Ian and Jenni Dobbie would like to welcome you to their beautiful island paradise home Straddie Bungalows at Amity Point. Ian’s ties to this beautiful island go back to his childhood when most of the roads were dirt and the trip from Dunwich to Amity Point was quite different than it is today.

Ian lived on the island for 3 years in the early 70's and attended the Dunwich State School.  After his family moved back to the mainland,  Ian continued to spend every holiday at beautiful Amity Point.  As a young boy Ian and his friends spent hours exploring and playing on the block of land which today is "Straddie Bungalows" and is directly accross from his family's holiday home which his father purchased the land for in the early 1950's and still owns today.

Ian’s wife Jenni has also had a long affiliation for some 25 years with the island since they me in the 80's. Ian has worked extensively throughout Asia and the south pacific region in construction and project management. He has a world of ideas and will one day transform these into reality on this beautiful piece of paradise.

Straddie Bungalows is in constant transformation

They purchased the property in July 2008 and changed the name from Amity Bungalows to Straddie Bungalows. At the time the accommodation property had been neglected and was run down with rubbish and vegetation everywhere. Nothing had been maintained properly and the place was in need of some commitment to the land and a touch of TLC. So after 18 months of seven days a week work they are finally starting to see the fruits of their labour with new gardens and turf starting to take off.

With a new front fence with automatic driveway gates and a new thatched gate house, this will help make Straddie Bungalows that bit more secluded so you, our valued guests can enjoy an even more private and tranquil garden setting on your holiday. Please note that this is a labour of love and work in progress and we trust our valued guests will enjoy the transformation over time.
